Refractive Surgery (at KBH)
LASIK eye surgery can be an alternative to glasses or contact lenses done for the correction of certain common vision problems.
LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a type of laser refractive surgery — the best known and most commonly performed. In general, a special type of cutting laser is used to precisely change the shape of your cornea — the dome-shaped transparent tissue at the front of your eye — to improve vision.
Normally, images are clearly focused on the retina in the back of your eye because the light rays are bent properly to contact the retinal surface. With nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) or astigmatism, the light is bent incorrectly and it ends up being focused elsewhere, resulting in blurred vision. Traditionally, the blurred vision is corrected by bending (refracting) light rays with glasses or contact lenses. But reshaping the cornea itself also will provide the necessary refraction.
Complete General eye exam
Complete eye exam involves a detailed evaluation of the refractive error, a detailed evaluation of the eye including examination for cataract, glaucoma, retina and other common eye problems.
So during an exam, the doctor not only checks your spectacle number but also does a thorough examination of the eye. A typical complete eye examination can take 45 minutes to 1 and half hours.
The recommended frequency of complete examination is at ages 3-5years, 18 years, 40 years and then yearly.
For people who have a spectacles number, diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma and other eye problems, a yearly eye check up is recommended.

Glaucoma Services (Lasers, Surgery)
Glaucoma is a condition where the intra-ocular pressure of the eye is sufficiently high to cause damage to the optic nerve. Blindness from glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness, common in adults over the age of forty. It can be prevented if the condition is diagnosed at an early stage.
In a normal eye, a clear transparent fluid called ‘aqueous humor’ is secreted and continuously drained out via microscopic channels inside the eye and then into the blood vessels. If these vessels are blocked due to any reason, the fluid starts accumulating within the eye and pressure starts building up. If this pressure is not controlled, it causes damage to the optic nerve of the eye, leading to blindness.
Glaucoma can be broadly divided into two main categories: “open-angle” and “closed-angle” (or “angle closure”) glaucoma.
Open-angle chronic glaucoma is the most common type where the loss of vision is gradual and painless. Usually it is detected when patients come to the eye doctor for a routine eye check up.
Medical Retina Services(Laser, Injections)
Retina is like the film in a camera. Retina is the third and inner coat of the eye which is a light-sensitive layer of tissue. When the focused light hits the retina, a picture is created and sent to the brain through the optic nerve (the nerve of the eye), thus giving us vision. Sometimes part of the retina either tears, pulls away or detaches from the back of the eye; when this occurs that part of the retina cannot gather light ans results in vision loss.
Dry Eye Services
M22 OPT™ Treatment for Dry eye
Dry eye syndrome is caused by a chronic lack of sufficient lubrication and moisture on the surface of the eye. Consequences of dry eyes range from subtle but constant eye irritation to significant inflammation and even scarring of the front surface of the eye.
Dry eyes are very common, and dry eye syndrome is a major reason for visits to the eye doctor.
Medical Paediatric Ophthalmology
Childhood eye problems are common. Eyes that ‘wander’, vision problems, eye infections, and eye injuries are all common among children. You can help protect your child’s eyesight by watching out for warning signs and taking your child to a doctor at the first sign of a problem.
